Tutorial Programme 2022 (Online) at University of Cambridge, UK (11)

During the 2022 “Jilin University - Cambridge Academic Programme of more than one month, I’ve gained a lot. Not only have I gained a further understanding of philosophy of science and technology, but also improved my English directly. Besides, I mastered academic thinking and writing skills further, which will be of great help to my future research in related fields. What’s more, I also learned about the tutorial system in Britain, and how to train the critical thinking and reading methods of us students.

To be honest, this project course has moderate difficulty and reasonable course arrangement, and I enjoyed every lecture. Our professor prepared carefully and passionately, and gave the slides and reading literature for us before each course. The professor shared five important issues in Philosophy of science, focused on our reactions and tried her best to answer the questions we asked in every class. Because of this, we took part in actively and communicated with each other in depth, which made me fascinated by the sparks of thought that came from it.

I’m very grateful that our department, the School of Philosophy and Society, can give me this chance to join in this programme. I also want to say thank you for the principals, who timely informed us of any notice before and after each class. They patiently answer any questions they have about the course, too.

To sum up, as far as I’m concerned, it’s a very good chance to exercise whether our English capability or academic knowledge. This group teaching and discussing mode helps everyone to express themselves freely and focus on their strengths and weaknesses through in-depth discussions with professors or group members. However, due to the short time, so many questions can’t be further developed, which is a pity. Hope there will be more such opportunities in the future!
