Tutorial Programme 2022 (Online) at University of Oxford, UK (11)

Firstly I found the whole perspective of the course curriculum particularly enlightening for me. Exploring German philosophy with a primary focus on dualism really gave me a more holistic grasp of German philosophy as a whole. This is because all my courses at the undergraduate level have been a chronological trail of the specific ideas of individual philosophers. That was certainly fine, but I think a problem-oriented perspective really helped me to grasp the similarities and differences between philosophers and the true meaning of their ideas. This course will influence my studies at the postgraduate level so that I don't forget to put a particular philosopher into a historical question when I study the details of his thought.

Secondly, the atmosphere of the class was also very comfortable for me. Susannas easy-going and witty personality really made me less nervous during the class. I really didn't feel confident about my English speaking skills before attending this course. But Susanna always listened gently and carefully when I answered questions, which made me less fearful and more open to discussion. Although my English still needs to be improved, I think this course has helped me to overcome the first and most important step in speaking, which is to start speaking. And Susanna always responded carefully to our post-lesson summaries, her affirmations cheered me up and the questions she asked made me think deeply.

Finally, I need to thank this course for introducing me to Professor Susanna. She recommended me many books and conferences that are not easy to know in China, which will benefit me a lot in my future study.
